Textual element - a feature that is common to any kind of text.
We spend much of our time in the English classroom analysing and interpreting literary texts. While there are some things that are unique to specific text types (for example: rhyme and rhythm in poetry, or framing and colour in visual images), there are some elements that are present in texts of all kinds.
With a greater understanding of these textual elements, we can be more confident in our ability to analyse and interpret literary texts. Even more importantly, we can draw upon our knowledge of these elements when it comes to creating unique and interesting texts of our own.
